Sustainable Economic Growth & Livelihoods

Strategic Focus and the Impacts

Sustainable Economic Growth & Livelihoods

AYEO is committed to fostering sustainable economic growth and strengthening livelihoods among Afghan communities, with a particular focus on youth and marginalized groups. Recognizing that economic empowerment is a cornerstone for individual, community, and national development, AYEO will implement programs that enhance skills, create employment opportunities, and promote entrepreneurship.

Our approach includes

01 01

Skills Development & Vocational Training

Providing practical training in
market-relevant trades, technical skills, and digital literacy to equip youth with the tools needed for gainful employment or self
employment.

02 02

Market Linkages & Economic Inclusion

Facilitating connections
between producers, local markets, and larger supply chains to ensure that products and services from vulnerable communities reach viable markets.

03 03

Sustainable Livelihood Practices

Encouraging environmentally sustainable and resilient practices in agriculture, trade,
and industry to ensure long-term economic stability.

04 04

Entrepreneurship & Small Business Support

Supporting start-ups and small
businesses through mentorship, access to microfinance, business development services, and networking opportunities to
create sustainable income generating activities.

05 05

Women’s Economic Empowerment

Promoting female participation in economic activities by addressing cultural and structural barriers, providing targeted training, and enabling access to financial and business resources.

06 06

Advocacy for Policy & Enabling Environment

Collaborating with government agencies and stakeholders to advocate for policies and frameworks that support youth employment, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic growth.

Education Programs

YEO, alongside other local organizations will play a pivotal role in advancing
education in Afghanistan’s rural areas. We are planning to partnership with international organizations such UNICEF and UNESCO to implement Community-Based Education (CBE) initiatives across the country, with a particular focus on addressing the educational needs of women and children.
Over the past three years, AYEO has built its staff capacity to support programs that will be funded by UNICEF under the GPE and ECW frameworks. These initiatives will strengthen our experience in delivering education in remote and hard-to-reach mountainous regions, enabling us to navigate diverse community contexts effectively.

Design and execution of health awareness campaigns on communicable diseases such as HIV, Polio, COVID-19, and malnutrition.
Implementation of comprehensive healthcare services.
Provision and delivery of basic health services.
Rapid health interventions in emergencies for returnees, IDPs, and populations affected by natural or man-made disasters.
Learning and capacity-building programs for unschooled individuals (men and women) through audio-based learning tools (rechargeable MP3 players).
